My 5 favorite fall fragrances
Have you felt the crisp air in the morning? Yes, fall is here. That seasonal transition means changing up your wardrobe and your fragrance game. It’s time to move from primarily fresh and citrusy fragrances to ones with more of an earthiness, depth, and also maybe a little spice. Here are five of my favorite fall fragrances for 2019.
Acqua di Parma Colonia Ebano
My first pick is by Acqua di Parma Colonia Ebano. Forget everything you know about Acqua di Parma and the original Colonia. This is nothing like that. Ebano is woody, spicy and aromatic. Top notes are listed as bergamot and petitgrain. But I honestly don’t smell those at all. What does come through a lot on the very first spray is pepper. That spiciness stays prominent for the first 30 minutes or so on my skin. As it dries down, it takes on a much smoother woody scent.

Marc-Antoine Barrois B683
Next is B683 by Marc-Antoine Barrois. This fragrance is leathery and woody but, a very, very elegant and refined version of those two scents. You can just imagine the kind of wood paneled room that this would be in and you’ll instantly have a picture of what this smells like. Now this is a leathery fragrance but, it’s not an intense leather. It’s very subtle. It’s just like this nice blanket that kind of envelops you. On the skin it doesn’t change when it dries down which is not a bad thing, in my opinion. It smells so nice that I wouldn’t want it to change.

Musgo Real Spiced Citrus
This one has become my go-to fall fragrance and is quite possibly on its way to becoming my signature scent. Musgo Real Spiced Citrus is classified as an exotic oriental fougere. A nice combination of freshness with the citrus notes and a warmth as a result of the its spices and incense. Top notes are lime, coriander, lemon, and verbena. Heart notes are spices and base notes are wood and incense. If you’re a fan of barbershop fragrances this is one for you. My only gripe with this is that it doesn’t last very long. You might get two hours out of it. This fragrance would be nice to splash on after work if you’re meeting someone for a drink or a casual dinner.

Frederic Malle Bigarade Concentree
The next fragrance is an all-time favorite of mine. This is Frederic Malle’s Bigarade Concentree. Right off the bat you’re hit with a wonderful bitter orange. It then moves more into a spiciness, which you get from a hint of cardamom and pink pepper. The base of this fragrance is mostly woody but with notes of cedar and a little bit of hay. This is a very long-lasting fragrance. It’s not an overpowering fragrance but will easily will last you all day long.

Tom Ford Italian Cypress
My last pick is Italian Cypress by Tom Ford. Now, I would put this very comparable to Polo Green but what I found is that Italian Cypress is a little brighter. It’s got more zest and more punch. From the website, it says that it contains notes of vibrant citrus, verdant basil and mint that meld with radiant wood. It is refined but I would also say a little wilder, which fits perfect with the Tom Ford brand. An everyday fragrance that’s great for fall.
